Children’s Ministry Core Values
Psalm 127:3-5 – Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.
Genesis 1:27 – So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Isaiah 1:17 – Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.
Psalm 82:3-4 – Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Proverbs 22:6 – Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
Ephesians 6:4 – Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
Mark 9:37 – Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.
Matthew 18:2-4 – He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Psalm 8:2 – Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

Curriculum
Kohitsuji (0-3yrs)
Kohitsuji Hiroba is a drop-in program for Japanese-speaking mothers and their children up to 36 months, which runs every Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM. The activities include: an unstructured playtime, circle time singing, and a short devotion.
Aratama (3-5yrs)
Aratama is a parenting circle that began in May of 2009. This is a program for Japanese speaking parents and preschool age children with Japanese children’s songs, finger play, crafts, parachute play and bible story time.
“Aratama” means “jewels in the rough”. It is our belief that every single child is a jewel in the rough, born with so much beauty and possibility inside them. It is our wish that Aratama would be a place of support and help to young Japanese families in our community, so that both children and mothers would thrive and learn to find love in the world.
This program has spring and fall sessions. Please feel free to contact us if you are interested in this program.
