Meet Our English Pastor

Pastor Kevin Ueta

My name is Kevin Ueta and I currently serve as the English Ministries Pastor at our church, the Japanese Gospel Church of Toronto.

It has been a privilege serving as a pastor of this church since 2007, first as a Student Ministries Pastor, and now in my current position. God led me to a sense of His calling and love for the people of Japan in the year 2000. Since then, it has been my hope and prayer that the people of Japan would come to know the love of God and the hope that we profess in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

I am married to my wife, Michelle, and we have two wonderful young children, a daughter and son.

Gospel-identity and our participation and pursuit of God's mission have been my areas of passion and calling in recent years and it is my hope to equip and mobilize the different generations of people to make a lasting difference in the world that we live in, for God's ultimate glory.

Meet our Youth and Family Worker

Adam Shih

My name is Adam Shih and I am currently serving as a Youth and Family worker at JGCT.

I am married to my amazing wife, Sharon and we have two great kids together.

It's my belief that the Bible teaches that children are valuable, in need of care and protection, in need of good and loving instruction, and according to Jesus, models of faith for adults.

My passion is helping everyone in our community understand and live out these principles - not to elevate children and youth above adults but to hold them up as equal stakeholders in our church community.

The main ministries I am involved in are Sunday school, youth, camp/retreat ministries, and various children and youth outreach.

Meet our Japanese Interim Ministry Worker

Minako Ebisuzaki

Hello, my name is Minako Ebisuzaki and I am serving as an Interim Japanese Ministry Worker from December 2020.

I was born in Aichi, Japan and I gave my life to Christ when I was 21. I moved to Canada at the age of 26. I graduated from the School of Ministry, Ellel Ministry, and currently, with the conviction to minister among the Japanese speaking, I am studying via correspondence at JTJ seminary.

I used to serve this church by supporting my husband Ray Ebisuzaki who was an English ministry pastor for 11 years. After his passing in October 2011, God took me on an interesting journey. It was a journey of perseverance and faith, but it was also a journey of healing. And now, God calls me to work as a staff member of this church and I am so blessed and honored to serve Him through serving this wonderful body of Christ.

  Meet our Pastor Emeritus

Pastor Stan Yokota

Hi, my name is Stan Yokota. Upon graduating in 1958 from a Bible College in Vancouver, I assisted the Canadian Japanese Mission along with Hiko and Ethel Kinoshita to start the JGCT.

After receiving my Bachelor of Theology from the Toronto Bible College (now Tyndale University), I pastored for 35 years along with my wife Aileen and son Darryn – with focus primarily on the Sunday School, the Youth, and the Camp ministries.

After 50 years and 7 rented facilities, God has blessed us with a new church building. It is my prayer that the “real” church continues to be the people with a passion for their Christian faith.
